Jules Winchester Song Review

Jules Winchester is a hugely talented singer/songwriter from the UK. Since the age of ten Jules has played the piano and guitar. At the age of fourteen Jules was lucky enough to have one of her songs Tears Of Love aired on a local radio station. More good luck followed for Jules when in 1997 her song Walking Up The Aisle was nominated for the King Eagle Trailblazer Award in Nashville by Airplay International. Jules has played live in bands and appeared at a few arts festivals. I believe that it is only a matter of time before this talented young lady, who looks a lot like the actress Clea Duvall, makes a big name for herself in the music world. With her musical talents she certainly deserves to sell bucket loads of CD’s. Her vocals touch on Celine Dion, Delta Goodrem, Lucie Silvas and Deana Carter.

Falling For You is one of those songs that makes you stop dead in your tracks. This is a slow, emotional song sung with great intensity and clarity. This is music at its very best. The vocals here are crisp and highly polished. The musical backing is strong and dramatic but it never overshadows the lyrics, which are sung with great passion. This song has a strong pop feel about it. It is a real pleasure to listen to this song!

I Don’t blends a touch of country with folk and pop. Another lyrically driven song sung with enormous tenderness. The vocals here are raspy and haunting, reminding me of Victoria Williams in style. The musical backing is perfect – uplifting and engaging.

Waiting is a piano driven song sung with strong vocals. There are hints of Delta Goodrem here. This song sounds sophisticated and has a slight classical edge. Enjoyable to listen to, this song is captivating and literally quite glorious. The piano section towards the end of the song is breathtaking and really helps to sweep listeners along on this marvellous musical journey.

Everything To Me is another slow paced ballad with striking Celine Dion style vocals. Again piano driven, this song has a strong country vibe running through it. This song has warmth and tenderness emanating from it. It is like the listener is being wrapped in a crushed velvet blanket.

Dance is a slightly harsher alt-country sounding song with a modern folk vibe. I am reminded on this particular track of Mary Black and Gillian Welch. This song has a much darker feel to it and this is reflected in the vocals. This is an interesting song bursting with atmosphere and possibility. I want to hear Jules perform more songs like this as she seems to effortlessly create a dark, atmospheric world.

Be My Love is a classy piano driven slow song. Again it is the amazing vocals that make this love song stand out from the crowd. Polished and soothing, charming and infectious – these are just some of the words I could use to describe the vocals that cascade like fragile snowflakes throughout this passion filled song.

I Can See An Angel is a guitar driven country influenced song. The lyrics are intoxicating and the vocals are spot on – never over done. This is a gentle song with a traditional feel.
