Darkness leading to light

Lost inside the body of an adult
Youth snatched away
Afraid to show the world your true colours
Inside still a little boy
A boy with nowhere to run and no one to hide behind
You pretend to be tough when inside all you want to do is break down and cry
You are angry at everyone but mostly with yourself
Above all else you want somebody to love
Worried that you are going to spend the rest of your life alone
Letting yourself go because you feel that you have got nothing to live for
Afraid that nobody could love you and want to spend the rest of their life with you
One day you had the rest of your life in front of you the next your life came to a dramatic halt
You don’t want to admit that you are scared to others or yourself
You refuse help from those who try and help you
You want people to think you are confident, loud mouthed and happy
Afraid to let people in to see the real you

Life seems bleak
A dark cloud follows you wherever you go
There is no escape, no turning back the clock
You are trapped in a world, which you see as hopeless
Dreams shattered you want to curl up and die
Hiding behind a facade
You may have had a big part of your life taken away from you but you are still very much alive
You were spared for a reason
You have got so much to offer and lots to live for
The walls around you are high but they can be taken down brick by brick over time

You need to be honest to yourself and others
Let people into your life
Let people see the real you hiding behind that mask
You are special and deserve to be loved
You may have problems but if someone truly loves you then those problems shouldn’t get in the way
You have to open your heart to people and they will do the same for you
You can’t keep wallowing in self pity and hiding under the bed covers
They can’t protect you all of your life
Your problems aren’t going to jump up and go away
Only you can make things better and move forward
There are people who love you and want to help if only you wouldn’t push then away or keep them at arms length in case you get hurt
Yes it is hard but you have to keep fighting
You can’t give in
You are strong
You have a lovely personality and good looks
You can’t let your life be ruled by something that happened many years a go
It happened and it has marked you but you can’t hang on to it like a noose around your neck
If you keep dwelling in the past you will drown
Eventually you have to break free of the chains that are holding you down and stopping you from moving forward
If you refuse to move on you will suffocate
You have to be brave and make the best of every day
Remember that when you are wishing the earth would swallow you up
Remember that when people offer you a kind word or a shoulder to lean on
It isn’t pity people really do care about you
Not everyone sees a man trapped in a chair
Some people can see beyond what is in front of them and those who can’t are sadly not worth the time of day
