Christian music infused with country and easy listening
Elizabeth South is a singer/songwriter who has been singing since the age of five. She has a degree in music therapy amongst her many other qualifications. Elizabeth wrote or co-wrote all the songs on HAVE FAITH using her real life experiences and her faith as inspiration. Elizabeth’s music has been featured on many radio stations in the States. Elizabeth sees music as a way of offering healing and encouragement to people. Her music effortlessly fuses together Christian music with country and easy listening. Elizabeth’s vocals have an angelic quality about them. Her vocals are polished and classy. The title track Have Faith starts off the album. Have Faith is a slow gentle song with atmospheric music including Theo Tham on the violin. Elizabeth co-wrote Waiting with her brother Mark. Elizabeth’s vocals are refreshing and uplifting. As the song progresses Elizabeth vocals move up a gear as does the backing music. Hold On is a song about holding onto the love of Jesus and that if things don’t go your way don’t give up just hold on. Again Elizabeth’s vocals are clear and crisp. This is an inspiring song. Surrender follows on in a similar vain. Another slow inspirational song. Just A Prayer Away is a lovely song with gentle soothing vocals. A real highlight of this blissful album. Why, also co-written with Mark South, sees a slight change in pace. This song has a more pop feel. Lively and upbeat this is a charming song. I’ll Trust You is another spiritual song with uplifting lyrics. I Need You is a definite highlight of the album and features Johnny Orr on vocals. Elizabeth and Johnny’s vocals blend perfectly together. The result is a magical duet. The album ends with Be Still, which features Arvid Pettersen on vocals. Another slow and highly delightful song. The backing here is gentle and soothing on the listener’s ear. Arvid has an amazing voice that contrasts well with Elizabeth’s delicate vocals. Pure joy to listen to and a lovely song to end the album on. This album will not appeal to everyone as the lyrics have a definite Christian feel but Elizabeth’s vocals are something to be treasured and celebrated.
