The ballads on this album are the real highlights
Alyssa Jacey’s new album blends together many types of music, the end result is an album full of songs about real life experiences. After twenty years of being a dancer, instructor and choreographer Alyssa decided to pursue a new dream, that of being a singer. Alyssa is one of those people who grabs life with both hands. If she wants something then she will go after it and usually get it. You Are My Passion is a modern sounding pop/breezy folk song, which would not sound out of place on a country radio show. Alyssa’s vocals are light and airy on this opening number. The title song, Here’s To Change, has an up-tempo jazz vibe running through it. Give In, Give Up & Get Out is a slow country/pop song. Alyssa’s vocals are rich and tender. Fall Out Of Love is a slightly heavier song with a touch of angst. There are hints of Jewel blended with Tori Amos here. The music and the mood gets broken up by The Fight, which is basically a telephone conversation about a missed date. Feel Like This is a pleasant slow song with a country/pop feel. All Over Again is a lovely upbeat country/pop song. The beat is infectious and Alyssa’s vocals are clear and crisp. Beautiful Night is perhaps the best song of the album. This is a piano driven ballad. Alyssa’s vocals are exhilarating. Someone Like You is another glorious song, slightly faster than the previous song but still very much a ballad. Dear Life is an interesting folk/country song. The instrumentation is very traditional and Alyssa’s vocals sound very much in tune with the theme of the song. This album features some stunning ballads that really show Alyssa at her best.
