Mum - Poem

Mum

She has lost the most important person in her life
When she died she took with her a part of her heart
Every night she longs for her return
She feels so lonely and lost, abandoned by the one person she needs most
At a young age she has had to grow up into a young woman
Suddenly she was the one in charge
She was thrown in at the deep end trying to juggle her studies with running a home
She let her emotions become lost under a pile of housework, errands and other household jobs
She was a tower of strength for her family but no one was there for her
She was forgotten by those she loved and needed to understand what she was going through
She had lost her mother and her best friend
She felt so let down and angry at her mother
She felt like she was falling at a high speed and there was no one there to catch her
There was no one to talk to, to understand her problems, worries and needs
Nobody alive could replace her mother
She often locked herself in her room and cried
Her tears could fill a river
They were tears of sadness at the cruel loss of her mother at such a young age
Her mother’s death had been a slow and painful one
She had suffered so much in her last weeks on earth
At least in heaven she was free of that terrible disease
Somewhere deep in her heart she knows that her mother is still keeping an eye on her
Sometimes she can hear her mother’s voice deep inside of her head guiding her through day to day life
Looking in the mirror at her reflection she can often see her mother
They share the same looks and personality
Her mother has passed on her spirit and energy for life to her daughter
It is that gift that has kept her going when the world seemed cold and dark and the walls seemed like they were closing in
She vowed to do her best to keep her mothers memory alive
Somewhere up in heaven a very happy and proud woman is smiling down at her beautiful and strong daughter
Her heart is bubbling over with love and pride
