Blackheart Album Review

Blackheart
Invisible

Blackheart return with their new twelve track album – INVISIBLE. Once again Chrissy Mostyn and Richard Pilkington dazzle listeners with their effortless blend of folk/country/pop. Chrissy has an outstanding delicate voice reminiscent in style of Andrea Corr blended with Bjork. Richard has a wonderful story telling voice suited to slow emotional songs. Both easily evoke listener’s emotions. The album kicks off with Wednesday Afternoon, the first single from the album. A lively engaging song that will stick in listeners minds long after hearing it. Thank God You Found Me is a slower song with superb crisp vocals from Chrissy and harmony vocals provided by Richard. An enjoyable song with a really calming feel about it. The Sky And I is a catchy upbeat song with a breezy pop feel. Lochgelly Lives is a chillingly beautiful song that will stir the heart strings of listeners. Chrissy and Richard are on top form vocally during this gorgeous song. Are You Coming Home is a stunning song full of emotive lyrics. There are so many highlights and standout songs on this album it is hard to flag up just one. Are You Coming Home is certainly an impressive song, reminiscent in style of The Corrs. Flyaway is a slow delicate song with angelic vocals provided by Chrissy. Farewell kicks off with some dramatic backing music that continues throughout the song. The chorus is rousing and catchy. This is a punchy upbeat song with a dark edge. Goodbye Everything sees the mood slowed once again. This is another classy song with emotive lyrics and stunning vocals provided by Chrissy and Richard. Names In The Rain sees Richard take centre stage. This is a powerful highly polished song that will make listeners stop and take notice. A real gem! Glasgow Tuesday 6pm is an extremely atmospheric song. Chrissy once again does herself proud on vocals. The Town Of Maybe is a rousing song with a catchy beat. Chrissy offers lead vocals and Richard joins in on harmony vocals giving the song added depth and character. Invisible, the title track, rounds the album off nicely. Chrissy’s voice is fragile like porcelain on this delicate song. Richard joins in on harmony vocals, his voice also delicate and fragile sounding. This is a beautiful song and so atmospheric. A lovely song to end the album on, this is possibly the best song on the whole album. Chrissy and Richard have put together a magical collection of songs that will both delight and amaze listeners and most probably gain them a few more fans along the way.
