Fiona Fields CD Review

Fiona Fields
Good To Go
Self-released
**
You never get settled in this album, it changes styles way too much
Fiona Fields first album features all original songs and is a mix of many different styles of country music. Fiona’s music has been compared to that of Shania Twain and Miranda Lambert. The opening song on Fiona’s album Dance Sitting Down is definitely in the style of Miranda Lambert. This is a heavy sounding rocky country song. Dirt is modern, fast and edgy. Itty Bitta is an up-tempo modern country song with a slight pop feel. It would be easy to imagine Shania Twain singing this song. Back Away is a slower country song. Fiona’s vocals are intense on this powerful number. The Final Straw sees the mood of the album slip down a gear. This is a lovely slow ballad in the style of Carrie Underwood. I’m A Fan sees the mood of the album change once again. This is an upbeat typical modern country song. Hurricane is a rousing song with plenty of back bone. Under That Hat is yet another fast paced rocky country song. Little Sister is a slow gentle song with a lovely country feel. Crack Of Noon is a modern country song with an upbeat sound. This album seems to shift between slow and fast songs at an incredible rate, you just get used to Fiona’s gorgeous steamy vocals when they change to powerful and full of angst. Good Night is most definitely a rock infused country song. Not to everyone’s taste this song is perhaps the best of the rockier songs on the album. Right From The Start is a lovely slow song to end the album on. Fiona’s vocals are eloquent on this rather lovely ballad. For me there is too much chopping and changing on this album. Fiona has a lovely voice as echoed on the slow songs she sings on the album, but you never quite hear enough of it.
