Stunning vocals really bring the seven songs on this album to life
The Larson Sisters are Stephanie and Rachael. Together they have made a stunning album HOUSEWIVES & BUTCHER KNIVES that combines folk with country. Possibly not every listener’s style of music this is an album that deserves to be really listened to. The seven songs featured on this album are all amazing both lyrically and vocally. The album starts off with the title song Housewives & Butcher Knives. The lyrics are powerful and strong and the vocals are edgy and really pack a punch. This song feels modern but not too modern that fans of more traditional country music won’t enjoy it. Lay Your Burden Down continues on in a similar vain. This song has a more upbeat feel about it. It feels as a listener as if the dark clouds from the opening number have dispersed. Turn Around is another great song with strong vocals. There is a certain amount of warmth in Stephanie and Rachael’s vocals and that warmth seems to ooze out through the songs they sing. Stay sees the mood slowed right down to almost a crawling pace. Stay is one of those songs that listeners will really cherish. The music is peaceful allowing the girls vocals to really shine. Enough is a classic singer/song writer song. It is so easy to see why these girls have been compared to Patty Griffin after listening to this song. Hole In Your Heart has a real old fashioned sound about it. Amazing vocals really bring out the emotion in this stunning song. The final song on the album is entitled Long Road Home; this is a more modern sounding song with a really upbeat feel. Rachael and Stephanie’s vocals are warming and really engaging on this magnificent final number. Listening to this album is like putting on an old friend. Magical music of the highest possible quality.
