This album is rich in quality, depth and magic
Jodi James hails from Louisiana, where she had a rural upbringing. Her musical style eludes a lot to that existence combined with future years of urban life. Add to that mix Jodi’s own personal life experiences and you have the album THIS FIRE. Her music is often compared to that of Shawn Colvin; they also share very similar looks. Jodi mixes a charming blend of modern folk with Americana to create some stunning music that will leave listeners in awe. The Daisy Song opens up the album on a slow delicate note. Jodi’s vocals are rich and sultry. This is a slow burning song with much richness and depth. Let Me Be Your Baby is slightly more up-tempo than the opening song. Jodi’s vocals are exquisite throughout, again with plenty of depth and character. Jenny is a faster paced bluesy number. This song has a really modern country feel to it. Miranda Lambert would not be out of place belting out this raucous number. False Love is another slow paced charming number with lovely harmonies. Jodi’s vocals are delicate and quite lovely to listen to. This Fire is a striking song with breathtaking piano backing. Definitely worthy of being the title number. Eve, the final song on the album, is an enchanting song, which once again allows Jodi to show off her amazing vocals. Jodi’s vocals really suit slow songs as this album proves. This album is rich is quality, depth and magic!
