An outstanding album packed full of glorious rock infused delights
John Nathaniel is a highly talented singer/songwriter who also produces and mixes his own music as well as producing and mixing music for other bands. He has his own recording studio. John lives in Montreal and plays a range of instruments including electric and acoustic guitar, bass, mandolin, piano and keyboards. John’s main passion in life is music; his musical influences include the likes of Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, The Beatles and Elton John. John’s music effortlessly combines rock and acoustic rock with a dash of pop and alt-country. There are hints of artists like John Mellencamp and Ryan Adams throughout John’s music. Overdrive is John’s third musical offering and features eight highly polished songs. John’s music offers listeners a mass of energy and carefully crafted songs, all worth a close listen. My Greatest Breakdown is an up-tempo song with a fresh rousing beat. John fills this song with an enormous amount of power and adrenaline. The music is uplifting and sweeps the listener along. This song has a pop/rock feel about it. Better This Way is a slower song with a powerful rock ballad feel. I am reminded here a little of Nickleback. John’s vocals are clear and distinct on this catchy number. Two Of Us is a slower acoustic rock song. John takes his vocals down a notch or two for this emotional rollercoaster of a song. His vocals are sensitive and earthy on this glorious number. Perfectly polished there are definite hints of Lonestar here. Better Days is a punchy rousing song with a rocky beat. John’s vocals are addictive and have a definite edge to them. Overdrive is another rocky song but with a softer feel than some of the other songs on the album. Still infectious John’s luscious vocals once again sweep listeners along. See What We’ve Become is a power packed song with dramatic backing music that really brings the song to life. Again there are reminders of Nickleback. This is certainly one of the highlights presented here. For You is a slow rock ballad. John’s vocals have a raspy feel on this delightful song. The lyrics are heartfelt and emotional. If you like slow intense rock songs then this is the song for you. We’re Just Like Snow brings the album to a close. This is another slow rock based song with an infusion of pop. John’s vocals are delicate once again and have a velvety quality. Overall this is a great collection of songs, all worthy of a place on the album.
